Description
The Department of Chemistry and Physics at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga invites applications for a Lecturer position in Astronomy beginning August 1, 2025.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold an M.S. in Astronomy, Astrophysics or closely-related field. Teaching experience is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be skillful and enthusiastic about teaching introductory Physics, Astronomy, and General Science courses and labs and upper-level Physics classes, with an emphasis in astrophysics. Duties include directing programming at the Clarence T. Jones Observatory, on the National Register of Historic Places. The successful candidate is expected to participate in Department Action Team initiatives to improve the student experience in our program. The Department of Chemistry and Physics at UTC comprises 22 (16 Chemistry and 6 Physics) faculty members. The department has approximately 40 physics, biophysics, and quantum physics majors and is noted for excellence in undergraduate education and research, with a node on the world's first commercial quantum network (see https://www.utc.edu/chemistry-physics/).
